Competent Crew practical course

The course

Your route to adventure starts here!Competent Crew courses are run over 5 days or 2 weekends (2 day + 3 day).  No sailing experience is necessary as our objective is to teach the basics so you become a competent member of the crew.  We all remember what it was like to join a boat for the first time, so we do our best to impart our knowledge and skills in the best way we can. With only 4 students on our 8-berth boat you will have a cabin all to yourself, ensuring a comfortable environment for all crew members aboard for the duration of the course.

The smile says it all!

  • A great time – learn to sail.
  • Live on board with great food.
  • A cabin to yourself.
  • Just 4 students in an 8-berth boat.
  • An instructor whose sole aim is to impart their knowledge to you so you can enjoy sailing in safety and comfort.

What about the weather?

It is unusual for us to have to cancel a course due to bad weather but, should this happen, a full refund or rescheduling will be arranged.  We will do our best to ensure you have a great sailing and learning experience.

Learning to sail a triangular course and how to maneuver the vessel in marinas are all part of the experience on board.  No experience is necessary; after the course you will be competent to act as crew on a cruising yacht.

We endeavour to supply as much of what you need as possible. We supply pillows – but not pillow cases. We supply wet weather gear – but not footwear.
