It is a view like this that reminds us why we sail!

There is nothing quite like the tranquillity and calm of a beautiful sunset out at sea, and an overnight sail means you can enjoy it to the full. The picture above shows all three of our yachts sharing this experience as they cross the Humber estuary as they continue to traverse the east coast northwards.

A long period of sailing such as this can be very demanding for those on board, so it is a good job that their destination provides some of the best fish and chips in the UK – Whitby.

You can follow the progress of the cruise in real-time on the map below. We have set the map to follow Monet automatically, but you can use the search tool to find Galliver II or Florence Agnes II using the search tool if you wish.

Day 2 of the sail4macmillan Round Britain cruise consisted mainly of calm seas and gentle winds, drawing our fleet from their berths in Shotley up to Lowestoft and their second stop of the leg so far. The easternmost point of the British Isles, Lowestoft allows our crews to be the very first to see the sunrise (if they are out of bed in time!) Maybe a lie in is not such a bad idea, as the following day is the first overnight sail of this year’s cruise: the long haul across The Wash and up to Whitby.

After their first day sailing together, our crews arrived safely at Shotley marina in time to relax and enjoy this beautiful sunset. After eating a freshly prepared meal on board, there was just enough time for an explore around Shotley, before getting some much-needed rest before the following day’s sail to Lowestoft.

Monday finally arrived and our crews joined their boats bright and early. After getting to know each other, and stowing their luggage on board, there was time for a quick meet-and-greet with some of our sponsors before leaving to catch the best of the tide.

We have just received our own Premier Sailing Racing branded jackets and salopettes from our friends at Gill, ready for the sail4macmillan Round Britain cruise 2021.
With only a week to go before the first leg of our largest ever cruise departs our base at Fambridge, the final preparations are being made to our three vessels - Galliver II, Monet and Florence Agnes – ensuring they are in tip-top condition.

Following the disappointment of 2020, we are so grateful to be able to run the cruise this year, and even more so that it is to be our biggest ever, so a great big thank you to everyone who has signed up and we can’t wait to see you on board!

And don’t forget The Capitals Race, departing from London’s St Katharine Docks on 6/7 August this year, for an all-out yacht racing experience!

On a sunny Saturday morning, our two boats entered our home creek and berthed for the last time on the sail4macmillan Round Britain cruise 2019. It has been a long trip for our vessels, and some of the crew, and it was only fitting that there should be a rousing reception with banners, flags and air-horns to welcome them in.

Skippers and crew leap ashore surrounded by family and friends.

As the festivities began, crew members were welcomed by family and friends after their long voyage, and wasted no time in getting stuck in to a barbecued burgers and hot dogs, and maybe a well-earned drink or two as well. As the sun shone down on everyone it seemed a fitting end to this years endeavours, and our charity auction helped to raise even more for Macmillad Cancer Support, with items generously donated by our friends at Tiptree Jam and Marinestore, as well as by Premier Sailing.

Jam tasting and fundraising, a fantastic combination!
Some of our sponsors set up stalls for visitors, and provided some much-needed shelter from the sun.

All of us at Premier Sailing would like to say a huge thank you to all who have taken part and supported this year's cruise, it has been an honour to have met everyone who has taken part and we are humbled by the support given by those at home for this massively important cause.

Thank you all so much.

Now who fancies joining us next year?
