The course will cover: the basics of seamanship; the essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage; chart work; electronic charts; position fixing; plotting a course to steer; weather forecasting and meteorology; tides; collision regulations; construction, parts and equipment of a cruising boat; emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and liferafts.
During the Covid 19 Pandemic we are providing the Day Skipper evening course via Zoom. We also supplement this with a number of videos that cover the key aspects of the course plus you will have access to our online student resources. You can see the instructor, ask him questions, see the whiteboard and any slides the instructor shows. It’s the nearest we can get to being in the classroom while you sit at home.
