Entering the Caledonian canal

Leg 3 of the sail4macmillan Round Britain cruise begins with new crew members setting off from Inverness heading for the Caledonian canal.

After locking in to the canal itself, our three yachts will make their way through the highlands over the next few days, heading for Fort William. Our crews wil spend a lot of time admiring the stunning views from the canal itself as well as enjoying the open water of Loch Lochie, monster hunting on Loch Ness, and descending the famous Neptune’s Staircase.

The canal presents a unique set of challenges on this cruise, navigating a series of locks and bridges, and our crews enjoy travelling at a more relaxed pace, but how often do you get to look up at Ben Nevis from the deck of a Yacht?

You can follow the progress of the cruise in real-time on the map below. We have set the map to follow Monet automatically, but you can use the search tool to find Galliver II or Florence Agnes II if you wish.

If you wish to support our crews on their voyage, and help Macmillan Cancer Support continue their vital work with those affected by cancer, please follow this link to our justgiving page:
